บทคัดย่อ
ในบทความนี้นำเสนอข้อมูลที่มีโครงสร้างเป็นลำดับชั้น (hierarchical or multilevel) และวิธีวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลแบบ linear multilevel mixed model โดยอาศัยข้อมูลจากการผ่าตัดรักษาภาวะปากแหว่ง ที่มีการประเมินความสวยงามของผลการผ่าตัดโดยผู้ประเมินหลายคน ที่บริเวณใบหน้าหลายบริเวณ ในผู้ป่วยกลุ่มหนึ่ง ข้อมูลคะแนนความงามแสดงคุณสมบัติ heteroscedasticity และส่อถึงปรากฎการณ์ ceiling effect ในบทความได้แสดงวิธีการกำหนดตัวแบบที่อาจเหมาะสม และการแก้ปัญหาดังกล่าว รวมถึงแนะนำชุดโปรแกรมสำหรับการวิเคราะห์ multilevel models

Abstract
 In this article a data set with hierarchical or multilevel structure was presented along with the analysis of the data using linear multilevel mixed models. The data was derived from a study of the results of operative procedures for the correction of cleft lip, where a cosmetic score was evaluated for various facial areas in a group of patients and administered by several raters. The scores showed characteristics of heteroscedasticity and raised the issue of the ceiling effect. Statistical models were devised to deal with these problems, and several statistical software for the analysis of multilevel models were introduced.
